Privacy notice

01Who we are

Wake Technologies (“Wake”, “we”) is a software development company based at Kiambu Rd, directly opposite Five Star Estate, Kiambu, Kenya. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice, under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.

02What we collect

When you send an enquiry through this website we collect:

• your name and, if you give it, your business name
• your phone number and/or email address
• the challenge, service and budget you pick, and anything you write in the message

We also collect your IP address when you submit the form, to block repeated spam submissions. It is held briefly in server memory and not stored.

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records how you use the site: pages visited, the device and browser you use, your approximate location and links you click (such as our phone number). It doesn’t receive what you type into the enquiry form. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. We don’t use advertising cookies.

03Why we use it

We use your enquiry details only to reply to you, discuss your project and, if you go ahead, prepare a scope and quote. We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form.

We don’t sell your data, add you to marketing lists or share it with anyone for their own purposes.

04Who processes it for us

Two service providers handle data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it:

• Google hosts this website on Google Cloud and, if you accept analytics cookies, provides Google Analytics.
• Resend delivers your enquiry to our inbox by email.

Both are based outside Kenya, so your enquiry is transferred abroad when you send it. We only use providers that apply appropriate safeguards to personal data, as the Act requires.

05How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for 12 months after our last contact with you, then delete them. If you become a client, project records are kept for as long as our contract and the law require.

06Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act you have the right to:

• be told how your data is used (this notice)
• get a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• have inaccurate data corrected
• have your data deleted
• object to, or withdraw consent for, its use at any time

To use any of these rights, email info@wake.co.ke. We’ll respond within 14 days.

If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (odpc.go.ke).

07Changes to this notice

We’ll update this page if the way we handle data changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
